"Providing Kids With A Pathway To Greatness"

Musical Mentors is a non-profit charity focused on providing free, quality musical activities for children regardless of their socio-economic status.  Not only that, but all our students are able to actually earn their instruments and keep them forever!

We started out in 2007 with a simple and enthusiastic belief:

That if we provided youth with access to quality music lessons which they may not otherwise be able to afford, along with mentors who serve as positive role models, almost every family and child would jump at the chance, and they'd be better off for it! As a result, the ranks of over ONE THOUSAND STUDENTS we have had since 2007 are absolutely overflowing with stories of how a music mentorship has positively affected every aspect of their lives. Musical Mentors improves students' cognitive skills, work ethic, boosts their motivation to do well in school, brings families of all kinds together in support of their children, and gives our students skills that will last a lifetime.

Wouldn’t you like to join us as we reach out and give back to the communities we all love?

We can even show you how to start a chapter in your city or town!

Our Vision Is Contagious.

Since beginning in 2007, Musical Mentors has faithfully served the communities in Southern California of: San Juan Capistrano, Santa Ana, San Clemente, and Garden Grove. Chapters also have been in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and now Coeur d’Alene and Post Falls, Idaho. Take a look at a short list of folks who have enthusiastically supported us!

  • Musical Mentors was selected by Peet's Coffee at Ocean Ranch in Dana Point two years in a row to be their charity of choice for the holiday season!

  • 2010 The Capistrano Dispatch featured Musical Mentors in the article entitled "Charitable Program Hits The Right Note With Students" Read the full article HERE.

  • 2009 NAMM recognized Musical Mentors as a group of "Musical Heroes" to watch in their campaign to increase musical education and participation worldwide. MM was featured in a nice write-up on their site HERE.

Your Instrument, Your Reward

Our Learn To Earn program is created for one reason: to teach the joy and fulfillment of responsible living to children. During the course of their studies, students earn points towards owning their first ukulele or guitar, free of charge.

  • Students will embark on studies in instrumental plucking, strumming, rhythm, learning to sight-read, and as they do this, earn points towards owning their instuments - free of charge!

  • Our Beginner Program consists of two 8-week phases.

  • Graduation recital is always amazing! Moms, dads, grandparents and friends turn out for an amazing concert starring their kids! At the conclusion of this Awards Recital, Musical Mentors transfers ownership of the borrowed instruments to the amazing students who have completed all required lessons.

  • Your generous donations made to Musical Mentors go directly to either purchase these instruments for our students or to pay for classroom time.

  • Instrument donations are also acceptable from anyone, provided those instruments meet the criteria required. Click the link below for more information.

Our Musical Mentors System of teaching and its curriculum is made for us, by us. Designed with ages 9-14 in mind, our courses offer the best in hands-on, group learning experience. The students become proficient quickly!

  • Instruments currently offered include Guitar and Ukulele

  • We offer classes organized into two 8-week-long phases to start. Students then have the choice to move on to intermediate and advanced classes.

  • All curriculum is designed and produced exclusively by Musical Mentors.

  • Students who graduate the Musical Mentors program have the opportunity and are encouraged to give back by becoming mentors for emerging classes.

  • All of our volunteers are hand-selected for their ability to connect with students in a positive and age-appropriate way and receive ample training to make sure they are proficient.
